If you want a family-friendly classic, look no further. This Granada Scorpio is being sold by H&H Classics at its online-only ABC sale on 24 March – and with just 27,000 miles on the clock and a recent service under its belt, it should be ready for years of lugging awkwardly-sized boxes back from your nearest branch of IKEA.

Back in the early Nineties the Scorpio was the lavishly appointed range-topper for Ford’s Granada range (rather than the later bug-eyed saloons and estates which solely carried the Scorpio range), which means that this 1992 example has had heated, electrically adjustable leather seats, electric mirrors, and electric sunroof, among other niceties, chucked in.

This three-owner example is estimated at £5000-7000 comes with a sizeable wad of paperwork, including 22 MoT certificates, so its silky 2.9-litre Cologne V6 should still be more than capable of holding its own on the outside lane. Just about the only issue we could spot is that the CD player isn’t working, but that wouldn’t put me off from bidding.

Perfect for all those long weekends post-lockdown, I reckon – and if you snap up within estimate, it’ll be a well bought modern classic.
