The Midget and Sprite Club (MASC) has announced that it is to acknowledge the ‘Most Improved Heritage Skills Apprentice’ in a presentation at this year’s NEC Classic Motor Show in November. The winner will receive a trophy, £300 and a year’s membership of the club.
MASC marketing officer, Niall Cook, told CCW: ‘As a club we are focusing on the next generation of enthusiasts taking an interest in the cars. There’s a great need to get people into the restoration industry. The new award shows our ongoing commitment to the preservation of classic vehicles, the future of which can be heard discussed at any classic event as to who would inherit current owners’ passion, knowledge and vehicles.
‘This was a concern, not just for the MASC, but all members of the classic vehicle community from vintage and veteran cars to motorcycles, buses and trucks.’
John Pitchforth of The Heritage Skills Academy (HSA) said: ‘Many of our wonderful vehicles would not be running without these well-trained problem-solving engineers. The support of car clubs is a great boost to HSA’s apprentices.’ Nick Larkin
