The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC)’s new insurance scheme is proving to be a hit with clubs.

The scheme, which Peter James Insurance administers, was recently launched as a means of providing support for smaller clubs under the federation’s umbrella. CCW understands that both the Cambridge-Oxford Owners’ Club (COOC) and the Wartburg Trabant IFA Club are already signing up to the scheme – designed to support clubs and registers with fewer than 1000 members – and the FBHVC is in discussions with more keen to sign up.

COOC chairman, Eddie Foster, said: ‘We particularly like the free salvage retention element and the self-repair option because many of our members are very practical and maintain their own car so would be quite likely to want to keep it after an incident and organise getting it back on the road themselves.’
