….and plenty of other Audis and modern classics, as plans for a new motor museum in Yorkshire take shape.
Classic collector, Imran Khan, is looking for a building in which to open a car museum in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The building will house 40 classics from the 1980s and 1990s, including his family’s collection of 20 Audis.
Imran said: ‘The venture would be part of the 2025 City of Culture celebrations but hopefully continue permanently.
‘People love to see these cars, most of which were models once seen across Bradford but now very rare. I want to set up a museum where people can enjoy them, talk, reminisce, have coffee or even a drive.
‘We have willing volunteers but have yet to find suitable premises in the Bradford area. We would very much like to hear from anyone who would like to become involved. Any sponsors for the museum would be welcome, too.’
Imran added: ‘My dad, Raja Zamir, was well known in Bradford. He just loved cars and bought and sold them as a hobby. He was diagnosed with dementia in 2016 and died three years ago. When he was ill he would often recall things that happened a long time ago and the cars were part of a way of connecting with him and part of my past.
‘I hope that the museum would raise money for research into this terrible condition.
‘Being City of Culture means a lot to Bradford and we would love the museum to be part of it and continue afterwards. My dad would love that. We can’t say how many cars will be on display until we know the size of the building and maybe someone getting involved might want to exhibit some of their own collection. Nick Larkin
