The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show is bringing a raft of new attractions to the NEC when it marks its 40th anniversary later this year.
The three-day event is expected to bring more than 3000 classics to the NEC’s halls; as ever, the range of cars expected is set to cover 120 years and all manner of types from British classics, veterans and vintage cars to icons from motor sport and modern classics. It’s an array that’s sure to appeal to all. The Pride of Ownership award is back, too, as is Classic American’s Car of the Year and the Meguiar’s Club Showcase, with plenty of competition for cars with incredible stories and clubs that have stepped up in their support of classics.
More than 270 clubs, museums, organisations and groups have already signed up to show, ensuring that the spread of classics on stands will be as incredible as ever. Some 350 traders are also confirmed offering parts, tools, autojumble and services as well as dealers’ cars for sale.
A new hall of fame is also planned to celebrate cars and people from the world of classics who have incredible tales to tell and have advanced the hobby and helped to keep it thriving.
A restoration workshop sponsored by Classic Car Weekly’s sister title, Practical Classics, will offer visitors the chance to pick up some new skills while Sporting Bears will once again be offering their Dream Rides in all manner of tasty classic cars – all in aid of charity fundraising.
Also new this year is a podcast lounge that will play host to The Auto Alex Podcast, My Dad’s Car and Driven with live recordings featuring special guests. There’ll be talks from experts across the classic car field throughout the event on the live stage; previous talks have covered classic motor sport, sustainable fuels, getting young enthusiasts involved and preserving skills and heritage. Big names and famous faces are regulars here with the likes of Ant Anstead, Edd China, Mike Brewer and Marc Priestley appearing as well as Richard Hammond and Dougie Lampkin.
Iconic Auctioneers will once again be holding a classic car auction featuring a strong catalogue of older models from across the marques.
Elsewhere a new stand will be hosted by YouTuber Ben Marshall from the channel, DadCars. The stand is set out as a family zone offering showgoers with young children a hub to enjoy with Mini Rovers, offering little ones the chance to get behind the wheel.
So there’s plenty to enjoy at this year’s NEC show. Day tickets start from £34.50.
