A weekend of classic events in Southport helped to raise more than £1000 for those affected by atrocities in the town this year.
Aintree Circuit Club said that donations throughout the Classic & Speed Revival on 14-15 September had gone to help an appeal by Southport Hesketh Round Table. This included a sprint event on the town’s seafront, a fundraising dinner and a classic car show, although inclement conditions throughout the show meant a reduced turnout and the cancellation of a planned classic parade through Southport’s town centre.
'All the drivers loved the new course'
Club chairman, Mike Ashcroft, told Classic Car Weekly: ‘The sprint in particular was a great success, given that we had doubled the length of the course, with a new start and finish area. All the drivers, including a number of British speed, race and rally champions, loved the new course, which they found very challenging and rewarding to drive.’
